The Organization Children and Adults with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (CHADD) says that symptomatology can be detected in early childhood . However it can be difficult to detect in early children impulsivity, inattentiveness and active behaviour due to the expected and natural motor development of a toddler.


Diagnostic and Statistical Manual, Fifth Edition (DSM-5) symptoms are presented in three forms:



Inattentive symptoms


  • Unable to follow instructions

  • Lack of attention to details

  • Difficulty to pay and maintain attention

  • Disorganised

  • Avoidance of mental effortful tasks

  • Easily distracted

  • Forgetful about daily tasks



Hyperactive symptoms


  • Difficulty to remain seated

  • Unable to engage quietly in tasks

  • Very fast talker

  • Tendency to interrupt others


ADHD combined


And individual can present symptoms of both presentations
